Previous | Home | NextThe annual Christmas lectures at the Royal Institution were famous. These were inaugurated by Faraday in 1825. In this 1856 etching by Alexander Blaikley (1816-1903), it is clear that this series welcomed everybody, all ages. Faraday delivered the lecture 19 times; in his last lecture in 1860 he spoke on "The Chemistry of the Candle."
